As I watch the US
elections so many thoughts go through my head-the constant drumbeat that it is
the greatest country in the world, the best, the most advanced and most
progressive on the planet. I hate to
burst the illusion of anyone who thinks that-for it is far from that in many
ways. In no area is the US #1 any more , I shall not go down numerous different
lists –but my intention is not to put
the US down, but point to the fact that countries have their zenith and
decline. Throughout history this has been so, and the US is on its way down
faster than anyone can imagine, unless some miracle happens-which never has in
history, neither will it now. It is a minute past midnight already!
The United States is
a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries
have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in
the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even
grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own
agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority.
The dumbing down of the US is most evident in the slow decay of substantive
content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now
down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, especially
a kind of celebration of ignorance –when celebrities like rapper JayZ , Katy
Perry, and Beyonce are the determinants of the US elections for the greatest
nation on earth-it is shameful and a travesty –if not a joke.
When candidates are
nor determined by their honesty, integrity and abilities, but by how much money
they can fundraise from special interest or steal-and lie their way into public
office ; it is the total moral decline of a country into the abyss. When whistleblowers
come out with the truth and are exiled or killed –like Julian Assange , Edward
Snowdon and many more who bravely try and document the corruption of the planet
for posterity, for maybe one day future generations may learn from the
mistakes, and the power hunger that is destroying man.
One sees the decay of civilization that is in the hands of the elite handful of few-the number being a mere "elite 8 families" in number, hungry for power and control-amoral and soulless dark souls . The question I ask-why. Will they take it to the grave like the Egyptians thought? Shame on humanity for allowing it, shame on us.
