The characteristics of soul is the characteristics in every way of Universal Mind--God. Thus is the term `You were created in the image of God`. Soul was--but is not a physical image, but its functional characteristics.
Soul is reflection of Universal Mind in every way and form, and knows nothing else and creates nothing else but- but positive energy. Love, beauty, bliss, joy, wisdom, kindness, goodness, understanding, acceptance, abundance, truth, creativity, and all that is positive.
Totally receptive to all that there is. This energy knows not any negativity or aggression. No darkness only light. Thus; Justice, mercy and forgiveness are the positive responses strictly to the function of ego. In God`s terms these characteristics would be negative . Why do I say this--because these are not positive reaction only its outcome is.
These actions are of ego from one soul to an other/ or on own self. These also need to be learnt, but they are not the fundamental characteristics of Universal Mind—of God--only one of its function so that soul maybe able to proceed or overcome certain actions that it perpetrated on itself or others. It is a way and means to let things go, to come to terms with that which has wounded the soul or simply feels that it was wounded. But this is a gift from Universal Mind in a way to cope, not its characteristic. This is what Jesus taught- he made the soul understand the need for justice, mercy and forgiveness--for without it the soul is earth bound.
Negativity is created and generated by ego which block the flow of energy from the whole, Universal Mind temporarily. Or Universal Mind becomes absent within the function of soul, or is cut off from it-- only temporarily.
Free will is the means through which we are able to connect or disconnect from Universal Mind. The soul knows exactly in the higher levels--at the level of over soul its source, its purpose and its goal. It always knows and always has known and always will know, at times it simply just does not remember as the physicality blinds it through the function of ego. Thus it is more attached to the physical, and its bonds are stronger as more ego is allowed within its function.
Limiting ego`s function will allow the higher self-over soul to remember and break the strong bonds of ego to the physical--which disconnect soul from the whole that is a total, complete part of, within the Universal Mind—or God.
