The music that you listen to has much to do with your development. This is because certain frequencies resonate with certain parts of the psyche--that has much to do with the awakening of your consciousness. It is also tied in very closely to your over-soul--or higher self. The sound works almost like a key to open the flow of light energy at higher vibrations into your physical body. It also energizes all the chakras within your system , which in turn has much to do with the consciousness of your higher self and also it helps to disconnect from ego.

That is why you have to be  very vigilant as what you listen to, for it can produce positive or negative affects on your spirit. A while ago I instructed you to listen to specific types of music--namely Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Gregorian Chants --this have the most profound affects, but other composers in the classical area also are very beneficial--Bach, Faure, Grieg, Haydn, Bach, Wagner, Brahms, Liszt, Schubert, Chopin, Brahms, Handel, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Puccini, Ravel, Bizet, Saint-Saens, Rossini, Rachmaninoff, Offenbach, Strauss, Sibelius.

These souls chose to show you the light, their whole incarnation in physical form was for this reason of love for --you, themselves, for you are all one. They realized their purpose eons ago and thus decided to do this for you, for themselves, -mainly for God.

All that you do, in your physical life is for the purpose of advancement  towards merging with your creator . Thus you are instructed to  walk always in the light not the dark --especially vibrations that keep you tied to the physical realm--thus is the function of music, not simply just instruments of pleasant notes --its purpose is to stimulate your awareness towards  higher functions of spirit. 

Thus make time a few times a week to explore the composers whose sole purpose is to help all of mankind become more aware and walk towards the light. This was a great gift--use it well and treat it with respect and reverence.

As for other music, what you would term --modern music --that is strictly for entertainment. Do not overuse it, for it will ground you to the material and the bonds will be very hard to break .
